Jamie Holden

Minister of Education

I attended church sporadically growing up. If a church happened to have a bus ministry where we lived, my four brothers and I would ride it. I loved going because I knew there was something different about the people (Christians) in those churches. They had a peace and joy that we did not experience in our home. When I was a junior in high school, we were put into a Christian children’s home, Palmer Home. It was there I felt a call on my life to follow Christ and to serve Him in full-time ministry.

After spending the first 20 years of marriage serving in all areas of the church while raising and homeschooling our children, the Lord opened the door for me to go back to school where I received a MACE and Ph.D. (NOBTS). Hillcrest called me to serve as Minister of Education/Administration in 1999.

My passion in ministry is to see others develop to their full potential as followers of Christ and to help them get connected to a place of service in their church family. I am so blessed to be part of a wonderful staff and equally wonderful church family. My goal is to continue to learn to lead more effectively in my respective areas of ministry and to grow deeper in my relationship with my Lord and Savior.

*Jamie has been married to Gary since 1978. They have 2 children and 6 grandchildren.

Children's Minister

Growing up I attended church every time the door opened.  By attending and serving in church I learned how to make God the first priority in my life.  My faith really grew and continues to be strengthened by the encouragement of my brothers and sisters in Christ.  I watched them live out their faith on a daily basis and asked God to teach me to do the same.  God called me into vocational ministry when I was in 7th grade, and the church played a huge part in helping me prepare for what I am doing today.

Four years ago God opened the door for me to attend Belhaven University where I completed my degree in Biblical Studies.  And this coming school year I will be begin the process of earning an MDiv in Biblical Studies from NOBTS.

Student Pastor

I have been involved in the local church my entire life.  While I did attend as a child, I was there because I was taught it was the thing to do.  I was on a mission trip in New Orleans in the eighth grade and accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior.  It was not until the two years after that I completely surrendered my life to following Jesus.  It was soon after complete surrender that I felt the call to vocational ministry.

Because of my experiences in “playing Christian” I have a passion to bring energy to the local church.  It is my joy to see Christians fall in love with Jesus.  Student ministry is full of willing and excited people, so to direct that willingness and excitement towards following Jesus will change the world!

I am attending Mississippi College, where I will graduate in December 2017 with a degree in Christian Studies with a focus in Ministry Studies. It is there that I met Destiny, my beautiful fiancé that I get to marry in October.

“If I say, ‘I will not mention him, or speak any more in his name,’ there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot.”  Jeremiah 20:9
